From May through September the bottom fishing is outstanding. We caught Croaker by the hundreds, with Trout, Bluefish, Sharks, and a
variety of other fish, mixed in. This is probably the best way to catch LOTS of fish for the freezer because the only limit on Croaker is "how many do you want to clean?" It is also a great fishing experience for kids because
the action is usually constant. Grey Sea Trout are a prized catch among Bay anglers. They are caught while bottom fishing or targeted by jigging.
CROAKER QUEENS
From May Through September, Croaker are abundant to the bottom fisherman. They pull hard and are nick named "Smallmouth-of-the-Sea".
They are a great
way to stock the freezer for the winter. Pictured are Margaret Gilley
and Margaret McLain with a fat 2.5 pound Croaker caught at night.

MEMORIAL DAY WEEK END. Finally, a pretty
weekend with no wind or rain!
The Rockfish chumming was good in the morning and late afternoon. The croaker fishing was wide open every day,
with a few Trout and Flounder mixed in.

The 2002 season has gotten off to a great start. The warmer than normal temperatures have gotten the Bay's waters warmer than
normal for this time of year. Also the lack of rain has caused a higher than normal salinity. These two factors have led to many fish coming up the Bay from the ocean two or three weeks early.
The early Trophy Striper Season was a success in both Maryland and Virginia waters.
We have been out several times scouting for stripers and trout and croaker. The chumming for stripers has been very successful. Bottom fishing for croaker has been productive, and the trout have also been biting. And the fishing will only get
better over the next few weeks and into the summer. So...
LET'S GO FISHING!
